Decor Inspiration: Fireplaces

This time of year always makes me crave the warm and crackling effect of a soothing fire or wood-burning stove. The soft glow and distinct smell of a roaring fire can completely change the ambiance of any space.

Now that the cold weather has arrived, I wanted to share with you some images of beautiful fireplaces that have caught my eye as of late. Each of these fireplaces takes on their own personality and provide a focal point for the room.

Now all I need is a good book, a glass of vino and a warm blanket to snuggle up.

Stay Away Sandy!

I love coastal homes - The architecture. The views. The natural beauty that comes from living right on the ocean. 

So with Hurricane Sandy touching down in a couple hours, I'm praying that these beautiful East Coast homes stay out of Sandy's nasty path of destruction (and more importantly the people inside of them).

To all my clients, friends and family living on the East Coast- Please stay safe and out of harms way during this devastating storm.

Designer Love: Darryl Carter

Darryl Carter, known for combining vintage pieces and offsetting them with modern creations is one of my all-time favorite designers.

Using a neutral palette, his perfectly put together environments evoke emotions of serenity and relaxation.

Below is one of Carters more recent designs. Mixing various textures of beige, cream and white and then intertwining antique items, Darryl’s latest project has me begging for more!

Converted Church Abode

I have seen people converting barns, boats and even airplanes in to beautiful homes, but living in a place that used to be a “House of God”….definitely out of this world. There are many people that love the idea of converting old churches in to trendy homes. I mean who can beat the wide-open floor plan, floods of natural light and floor to ceiling windows?
