My Picks: ZARA November 2013

Anyone who knows my style, knows that I have a definite love affair with ZARA. So when the November 2013 lookbook came out, I took the time to sit down with a cup of coffee and sorted through my favourite looks from this collection.

The fall/winter lineup features Céline-inspired pieces and a lot of easy to wear and non-fussy knit-wear. Everything from relaxed jumpsuits, to roomy trousers to lace-trimmed tops are on the menu for the months catalogue. There is a definite focus on leather and this textile can be seen as an accent on many of the pretty pieces in the collection.

Amoung my favourite items were the moto-inspired pieces, oversized sweaters and classic tunics. Great basics that can be worn time and time again.

Below I have curated my favourite pieces from the November 2013 Collection.

Some are actually in my closet as we speak…

Exquisite Equestrian

Traditional. chic. classic. vintage. All words to describe the beauty of equestrian style.

Each fall/winter we see the presence of this horse-inspired style in the world of fashion. Brands like Gucci, Burberry and Ralph Lauren continue to feature waist defining jackets, colourful silk scarves and paneled pants in their collections. Refreshingly simple yet undeniably timeless, fall/winters equestrian fashion will have you riding high! Step lively and insert some of these beautiful pieces in to your wardrobe today.

As they say, history repeats itself – And as with equestrian fashion it is clear that this style will never go out of fashion.

Below are some inspirational pictures as well as some of my fav pics for the season.

How To: Wear A Maxi Skirt In The Winter

When conducting my wardrobe consultations, I always recommend that my clients put their strictly summer pieces away for winter and focus on appropriate clothing for the season. By moving warm weather pieces to another closet space or to be stored in dry cleaning bags under the bed, it helps to clear out space for their winter pieces to shine.
I always find that one piece that many of my clients want to move out their wardrobe for winter is the maxi skirt. Truth is however, that this item can most definitely be worn during the winter. Great for creating boho looks, the maxi skirt can easily be paired with leather, fur and oversized knits to create a cozy and stylish look for winter.

Here Are Some Rules For Wearing A Maxi Skirt In The Winter:

1.    Combine With An Appropriate Top: The maxi skirt gives off a floaty vibe, so you need to make sure to anchor this item with a weightier pieces on top. Pair with a leather jacket or a big heavy sweater. This will help to transition the piece to be appropriate for winter.

2.    Wear With Appropriate Footwear: For the perfect casual look during the day, pair with a motorcycle boot or flat. For a chic evening ensemble, use a healed boot or strappy sandal to elevate your look.

Here is how I wear my maxi skirt for during the winter, as well as some inspiration pics to get you pulling that maxi skirt out of your strictly warm weather pile.

Lace It Up!

Is there anything sexier than black lace? Elegant, daring and full of intrigue.

If you’re looking to add some pizzazz to your ensemble, incorporating black lace in to your closet is a sure free way to get you noticed. My suggestion? Try to add it in small amounts rather than wearing full ensembles of this bold textile.  Complement your outfit by pairing it with a lace shoe or add a black lace cutout top to a pair of leather leggings. No matter how you do it, this fabric will give you a racy and sophisticated appearance.

Here are some photos to get you inspired and some of my favourite lace shopping picks in various price ranges!

Happy Monday!
